Newbie Overclocking Needs Help

I'm getting an E6400 with the ASRock board, and a gig of ddr2 533 ram.

bearing in mind that cpu's are mostly manufactured for 10 years of use, if i try to o/c to around 2.4, how long would the cpu last?

also, will it affect the life of my mobo and RAM?

im using the stock heatsink with as5 thermal paste, along with two case fans, one 120mm and one 100mm.

thanks!

also, everyone in my family will be using this computer, so please be absolutely sure of your answers!

Don't worry, you won't effect the life of the CPU. Overvolting by a large amount is what shortens the life span, and that board is very limited and will only allow a slight bump over default vcore.

This also makes that board a not very good overclocker. But if 2.4 is all your shooting for you should be able to hit that, probabally without touching the volts and on the stock HSF
