I have two systems I want to overclock and need some help as to picking possible target speeds.

System #1 is my XP Pro system:
XP 2000+ retail chip(brand new) with Alpha PAL8045 heatsink and a 80mm Panaflow fan.
Mobo is a Soyo Dragon+ (KT266A) with 768MB Crucial PC2100 DDR RAM.
Case is a Cheiftec server case with 5 80mm Panaflow fans and a Antec TruePower 380W PS.
Video card is a retail ATI 8500 AGP card.
Hard drive is an IBM 120GXP 80GB ATA100 and 7200RPM.
Other items are a DVD and CDRW, sound and NIC are built into mobo.

System #2 is my Win98SE system:
XP 1600+ retail chip(used 6 months at normal speed) with the heatsink/fan from the XP2000+.
Mobo is a Asus A7A266 (Ali M1647) with 256MB Generic Bestbuy PC2100 DDR RAM.
Case is a Fong Kia FK-320 with one 120mm Panaflow entrance fan and a 90mm Panaflow exit fan, generic 300W PS.
Video card is a Visiontek GeForce2 GTS AGP.
Hard drive is a WD 30GB ATA100 and 7200PRM.
Other items are a DVD/CDRW combo drive, a NIC card, and a cheap sound card.

Both systems used Artic Silver for their thermal paste. I am not about to play with the chips and unlock them, so the only overclocking I plan to do it up'ing the FSB. I also don't know which versions of the chips I have, but I can find that out if it will make a difference. I have heard I can take the XP2000+ from 1.67MHZ to 1.76 MHz by up'ing the FSB to 141. That a good target, go higher, go lower? As for the 1600+, where can I take it? I do want to overclock, but don't want to risk too much, so don't want to push it too far. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance...

Well, that cheapo Best Buy ram is likely to run up to about 136MHz and quit. As always, the only way to find out is to try. With each system I'd go 1MHz at a time. I don't think either is going to go very far; the cheapo ram will hold up rig 2, and you've got a couple minor factors on rig 1 -- cpu will likely only go up to 145fsb (or less), 2 sticks of PC2100, and 8500's don't seem to like high AGP speeds. My guess? Rig 1 will hit 143, rig 2 at 137. LMK ;)

The 1600+ CPU is a AGKGA
The 2000+ CPU is a AGOIA

That info make any difference?

The AGOIA stepping normally ocs better than the AGKGA.
Just follow the Jaybee hints you will be alright.
I agree that the rig 1 will probably hit 140's Mhz FSB easily.

Good luck!
