Newbie Overclocker - need advice. - please

I want to get the most out of my system, but don't want to sacrifice too much stability for performance.
What can I tweak easily and what precautions should I take. I keep hearing that the athlon is very operclockable - want to see how fast I can get it.

Usually people O/c when they have crappy systems, not 1700's.
