Hi,

I'm going to build my first computer. I'm going to use an AMD 2500+ or 2600+.
I need suggestions on a motherboard.
I'm not going to overclock.
I want at least 5 PCI slots.
RAID 0 would be nice.
I have a budget, so less expensive is better.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Johnny.

I've got quite a number of FIC AU13's out in the field, with no problems whatsoever.

I also like the Epox 8RDA+ I've got in my main box right now.

But whatever you do don't buy ASUS. Their tech support is the worst I've ever come across, and as far as I can tell, their warranty is worthless. I've NEVER been able to get support or an RMA from them, and I was a registered reseller of their parts. Don't sell them anymore because of the above issues.

Excuse my ignorance, but what kind of RAM should I get for the Epox 8RDA+?

Thanks,
Johnny.

I spent months trying to get an RMA, or for that matter, any tech support at all. Finally after about 4 months I got a call from a guy in China - who told me the US office would take care of me. The best I could get out of the US office was a form e-mail telling me to take it back to the reseller I bought it from. Even though I am the reseller. So, as far as I can tell, they do not provide tech support, nor honor their "warranty". at all, ever.

No mo Asus gets sold here, that's for sure! Asus, the Edsel of motherboards.

I know a lot of guys over at the old asusboards (can't remember what it's called now) said asus is pretty fast; they got their rma's shipped back w/in 2 weeks. Maybe you had bad karma with that motherboard! But I don't like their tech support too much either.
