Newbie needs help with HyperX DDR

Ok so heres my system
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
AMD 3800+
2x512megs Kingston HyperX
Radeon 9250 128meg
80gig 720rpm HD

I descided to give OC'ing a shot. So I was checking out the Bios and saw that the memory was running 2.5-3-3-3-8 2t which is awefully slow for this ram isnt it?? So I tried changing it to Kingstons advertised specs of 2-3-2-6 1t and the system wont start. It will work at 2-3-2-6 at 2t but not 1t. What am doin wrong, ive read that 1t performs better how much performance am I losing?? Also what kind of OC can expect with this setup?? Will I be able to get 2.7ghz out of it?? I am new at this so keep that in mind. Thanks in advance

Not quite sure whats wrong with your ram, but with your CPU it depends on what core you have on the 3800+. If its a Newcastle core, don't even expect more than 2.6ghz, if its a Venice core, then you have more of a chance overclocking it to 2.7ghz
