Hey guys,
Listen, instead of trying to upgrade my brothers computer i decided i'd rather o/c the cpu. Only problem is i've never done it before. The computer is an aptiva, mobo is has no jumpers to set the cpu speed, and the bios wont let me do too much of anything. I dont know how to o/c it. The cpu speed is 300mhz, but i want to know if i can get it up to the 400's, maybe even 450 if im lucky. Im all ears for any suggestions. Please let me know. Would really appreciate it.

if the m/board has no jumpers to change the fsb or multiplier & bios has no o/clocking settings then o/clocking is out for that board!

Download a software that can tell you what kind of mobo you have (i.e. SiSoftSandra). If it is a PII in a LX-motherboard you can only (correct me if I'm wrong) o/c by software (SoftFSB by H.Oda).

Íf you have another motherboard you might be able to o/c by flashing to a newer BIOS and tweak it from there.

Correction.. some of the LX based boards had FSB settings of 75, 83 and even 100 in addition to the default 66MHz. I have a dual p2-266 LX board with cpus at 300, by using the 75 FSB. I'd recommend putting in some PC100 ram to help in your OC efforts.

A software FSB method may also work, but I've not had any experience with the software method.
