Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to read this topic. I have a problem and I need some help with so I am going to post my dilemna here. My brother brought home a 1U server from school today (pentium III 550 - old art room server) which was used as a file server. It has Red Hat Linux 5.2 loaded on it. The kernel is 2.0.36 on an i686. (it says that when you boot it up, thats how I know that). It asks for Host login :

I want to reformat the computer so I can take linux off, and put Windows 2k Server on so I can play Mp3's all over the house through our network. What exactly do I have to do? How do I reformat it? I have the 2 Win2k server disks and I don't know how to get it on to the server when RH Linux is loaded. Do I have to take linux off? How do I do that? If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated. I may be able to PayPal you a few bucks.

Thanks,
Darren

You ever try just popping in the Windows 2000 cd in the cd-rom? Should (well.normally) try to boot from CD and load win2k. Just making sure that you don't want any more data on that, do you? If not, just go ahead n format it.

Do you know how to jump into the BIOS? At first when your computer is going through POST, press the key (different with each mobo manufacturer) that will let you go to the 'setup'. Sometimes it's F1, or DEL key or F10, etc... Once in, look for the area where it says 'Boot from...' and it will say where it would look to boot from first. It might say something like A:, C:, CD-Rom or C:, A:, CD-Rom. Just make sure that the CD-Rom is first so it would look there.

Good luck!
