Newbie MB Question

Hi Folks...

First off, I don't know all the ins and outs of mbs and such, so all the info below may not be 100% accurate.

I'm considering getting a new computer with at least an AMD 1000 mhz processor. In considering the MB, I basically haven't decided whether to go with the Asus A7V133, Abit KT7a, or the Microstar version. That said, I'm not terribly confident about overclocking right now, but I would like to have a MB that isn't maxed out at 1200 mhz (as it appears the 100 mhz fsb boards are). That said, will I have to unlock the processor or can I just adjust the fsb to 100 mhz, and not play around with the multiplier at all....any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Dave

as in the previous reply, i just read something about abit being removed from the approved amd list and a lot a people cheered.

I have a Kt7. Generally love Abit boards. This one caused me trouble getting a network card and modem installed. Abit has been removed from AMD's recommended list.

I've setup Asus boards as well. I'd recommend the Asus or MSI board at this time.

I don't have any concerns about overclocking right now (as I don't want to play around with unlocking it), but is there a problem with putting a 100 mhz fsb cpu in the 133 mhz boards? Will it automatically detect the 100 mhz fsb (and 10x multiplier), or will I have to adjust it myself (133 mhz and 7.5 multiplier)??

Thanks in advance....
