Newbie: Mandrake 8.1 divx help

I'm trying to install the divx player that I downloaded from http://divx.euro.ru/ but when i try to run the ./configure script I get a :

configure: error: no acceptable cc found in $PATH.

What should i do? Do I have to d/l a gcc compiler and if so, can someone provide a direct link? I thought that mandrake 8.1 would come w/ this stuff? Does anyone have a better divx player for linux? Thanks.

Did you install gcc and friends when you installed Mandrake? It should be on your cd in rpm format.

I thought i had. I have 3 cds, which cd will it be on?

I dont know, Im not a Mandrake user. Check your installed rpms and see if it is listed in there.
