Question Newbie...i9-13900H vs i7-12800HX

Haven't looked at hardware since 2016...

Buying a laptop,
Passmark scores i7 12800HX better than i9 13900H. I am going to use the laptop for content creation, Adobe After Effects, and Premiere Pro. Is one significantly better than the other? Using common sense I'd think the i9 would be better than the i7? Any wisdom?
Thanks!

I have been researching hours about the speed battle between intel and amd and would like to chime in on this. I did see a few places that rated the hx processors as huge improvements on the H grade processors, however, the two benchmarking sites I went to listed the i9 as better (more powerful) than the i7, although it was close. In fact, another source verified that the i9 and i7 are very close in performance. I was unable to find passmark results.

Get the i7...especially because it is for a laptop. I've had an i7 desktop for 10 years that aged great and a new mac pro with an i7 that was able to handle media encoding really well. I haven't owned an i9. Not only that, but I would say that another area you should look is how hot the processor gets, which can be a problem if you're doing heavy workloads on a laptop.

I9 doesn't do much more than drain more cash from your account.

Most of your workload is GPU based once it's loaded into the ram on the GPU.

Just add a drive and RAM to make it work. Diy will save you a few bucks and get what you want and not the short list. RJT ships quick and doesn't charge sales tax.

I've used Newegg to buy computers in the past. Is there a better place for a wide array of computers to choose from?

Search for products on Newegg, than price them on Amazon. Amazon isn't great at searching, but usually has a similiar or better price.

My ladt 2 laptops (a 6800H and a 6950H or something like that) I got on Lenovo.com, as it was the best price. So check everywhere. B&H photo and Best buy are 2 others.

That said, newegg and/or Amazon are quite often great..

Yes, but are you shopping for HW or looks? If you want the best price / performance then you should be looking at the Clevo option I posted. If you need something outside of the US the model numbers will pop local results in the EU as well.

All you've mentioned so far is the CPU and nothing else.
