I have gotten pretty good with slackware so I want to try my luck with Gentoo. But I have not mastered how to create a bootable ISO. I've always just used a downloaded bootable ISO pre-made.
how do i make the gentoo ISO bootable?> I will be using a winxp machine to do this and burn the disc
my cdrom is already set to be bootable

If it's an ISO you downloaded from Gentoo, then it's already bootable. Just burn it as usual.

It's possible to make an ISO that's not bootable, but I've never heard of such a thing being distributed by a Linux distro.
