Newbie,..How do you upgrade your BIOS?

I downloaded a newer version of BIOS for my mobo and would like to know how to install it and what it takes to get my system running again,..

I got the newer BIOS so that I can use the newer CPU I got for my mobo,..Do I have to reload WIN all over again? Is this a simple change or really extensive as I hate having a downed computer,..

No Windows reloading needed!
What MB brand/model?
On their website they should have instructions as to how to flash your bios.And also the flash software.
Some allow you to flash from Windows,others you must create a bootdisk with the bios definition file on it as well as the flash program.
Need to know your make & model MB.
Your question equates to "How many nad what type of spark plugs does my engine need?" without me telling you what make/model my car even is.Next time you seek help you need to elaborate a bit more if you really want help.

Dont unless you know ABSOLUTELY what you are doing... or unless something is going wrong. If you dont really know how we will tell you thats why the forums are here but i would advise against flashing any BIOS's until you know exactly what you are doing or unless you are having problems.

Be very careful flashing the bios for the first time. You could end up with a dead board. I use a new floppy with a bootdisk program, such as from win98 or bootdisk.com. Then download the bios program to "my documents" file, and unzip them if necessary. Then move the unzipped files to your new formatted floppy. After booting up with the bootdisk, at the "a" prompt, insert the new floppy, and type "dir". Write down the file names exactly as they appear. Then load the flash utility program first, and follow the directions. While flashing, it's critical you don't touch anything until the program is finished. It will tell you when to reboot. If you're currently overclocking, before flashing, change to the "default or safe settings" before you start. If the power supply acts up when you reboot, you could also have a dead board.

I would bet more boards are destroyed by a bad bios flash, than by human error in mounting boards; CPU's & heatsinks.

If you are new flashing use the Windows based update utility that may have came with your board. Less risky that way.
