I'm looking to build a new coputer for myself with a 1.33Ghz Althon that might get OC a little bit. I noticed that some companies say you need more then a 300w PS for a 1.33. Is that right? While I'm at it I'm looking for a good case shipped for around 70 bucks. That is all that is left in my budget. Anyone know a good cheap one? If I can use a 300w PS then I'll probably go with a enlight 7237 from newegg.com.

Good and cheap really shouldn't be used in the same sentence when it comes to computer parts. You get what you pay for. An AMD-Approved (check their website) 300w power supply will be plenty to power that CPU, a hard drive or two, two CDR's, floppy, vidcard and whatever other stuff you have in there. Unless you're gonna have some crazy hovercraft system with 10 fans in it, you'll be fine.

Don't go cheap, trust me on this🙂 Go ahead and get yourself a nice Antec case or so. I just ordered mine for $105 shipped🙂

Check out the enermax CS-A1QX-06, Phamcomputer.com has a good review about it. I just got mine and I have to say its pretty damn sweet. It comes with a 300 watt enermax powersupply, and the case is a lot bigger then it looks in those pictures. I got mine for 73 bucks shipped from ctgdirect.com (the only complaint I have about that company is they ship by UPS so it took an extra four days for the case to come. But it came in perfect condition.). This case is the best deal on the market, hands down. (at least in my humble opinion.

A lot of people don't realise how important a good PSU is for a stable system - voltage variances, current drops, irregularity in timing and an inability to provide sustained levels of power are all problems with cheap PSUs - I generally buy a fancy looking case with no PSU, then go and buy a server class monster PSU.

You can always tell - cheaps ones tend to be very light comparitively, the good ones are usually heavy muvvas. In reality, the wattage isn't that important, the reason that buying a 350w or 400w supply tends to be more reliable is that those levels of power were generally required only for servers, and reliability was paramount.

antec cases and power supplies are very good. if you don't need all the drive bays the antec sx1030 offers, then go for the sx830. at EMS computing.com, it is selling for $72. expect to pay ~$20 for shipping.

I ordered my SX1030 on Sunday with 6.95 for shipping and got it today, Tuesday. Yes folks, UPS Ground and I got it in 2 days!!!
