NEWBIE - CUSL2 - Best mem config?

Anfield

What memory configuration have CUSL-ers found works best on a CUSL2 M/B?
i.e. Brand, cas, banks, bios settings etc.., Any feedback welcome

Also can I mix a single sided 256mb w/ IBM chips with memory modules with micron chips😛

mixing- I find mixing to be generally bad (mostly when O/C'ing), but as long as they are of the same rating there should be no major problems. I personally find that (non- OC) as long as your memory is big enough (128+ for Win 9x/ME & Linux/ BeOS/ Whatever; 256+ Win2k) and it is CAS2 PC133+ that all is good.

cusl2 can be picky about memory. good high quality memory is usually desireable. if you overclock past 140mhz FSB, you will lose some memory speed. There are some tweaked bios's that enable features that get disabled when overclocking. check out www.cusl2c.com forums for tweaked bios information

Thanks for the info, should add it is a PIII-933Mhz (not o-c'd). I'm mainly concerned about incompatibity (between brands) and how many banks the CUSL2 will accept (I know it has six banks, but also know it won't read all six)? Are there specific banks it prefers (e,g L/R side of DIMM, consecutive banks, non-consecutive)? Probably more technical than I need, but would like info anyway. Thanks for the input.

Thanks for the link that should have some good info (though mine is a cusl-2 not cusl2-c. don't know how much diff that makes

You should read/re-read Anand's review of the board ...
