anyone know why my cpu-z 1.41 is reporting my multiplier is 6.0 and core speed is 1600mhz (6x 266)?

i have a core 2 duo E6300 on a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L mobo that i just put together, the bios says 7 x 266 (i haven't oc'd anything). Is this normal? thanks

Cpu-z reports the multiplier at six because when your system is idling intel's speedstep lowers the multi and volt. to conserve power. This is normal.
