i've recently acquired an Adaptec 2100S U160 SCSI raid controller and an IBM UltraStar 36LZX 18 gig HD and a Seagate Barracuda ST118273LC HD.
i have a trade list going and a few of what i want is a Plextor UltraPlex 40X Wide, Sanyo BP5 24/10/40 SCSI CDRW, Pioneer 304S 10X DVD SCSI, and another IBM 36LZX or maybe a couple of Seagate15X Cheetah's.
my question is:
is this the right choice of parts? and is there anything else i need?

i also have a question about the Adaptec. it says it's mem cache is upgradable to 128 MB dimm. it has 32 in it right now. i know it's suppose to take ecc dimm mems but does it also have to be only adaptec approved mems or can you slide in some other ECC dimm mems. (maybe non-ECC? i have 3 sticks of 128 MB Micron Cas2 PC133- i wonder
