Newbie Asus P4PE mobo questions

Hi all I brought a P4PE/L Mobo for my 1st build. Could those who have this board please give me any tips and a little help particular to this board that i should know before installing.

I have 5 questions myself- 1st those who have installed a seperate sound card (Mine is a TBSC) do you have to uninstall the onboard drivers to avoid conflicts or will just disabling the onboard sound be fine?

Second question is the power connection- In the P4PE user guide p2-23 it advises how to hook up the 20 pin ATXPWR1 & and the 4 pin ATX+12 connecters which I have on my power supply. It then advises about the Asus EZ Plug on the mobo and recomends connecting to it if you do not have the 4 pin ATX+12 plug. Do you reccomend still connecting a spare EZ power plug from my power supply as well as the 20 pin and the 4 Pin ATX+12-In other words have the 3 power connections connected?

Third Question- I have a H600A Aopen case with front standard USB connecters on it. Can I connect from the P4PE USB 2.0 header to these front Case USB connecters if they were for 1.1 USB?

At this stage I will not be overclocking as to new to building at this stage so what settings in the bios do you recommend for my 2.4G 533mz CPU, 512Mg Kingston Value Ram i.e Auto detect , manual adjustments etc.

No5 With flashing the Bios the Manual Has chapters on two types of flashing-1 Using Asus EZ Flash and the other Using AFLASH- Which is the best/safest method to flash/upgrade my bios and any tips on this??

1) disable onboard sound in BIOS and install the TBSC drivers

2) Use the 20 pin (obviously) and the "square" 4-pin. You can ignore using the "EZ plug"

3) I'll leave this to someone with more experience here

4) To start off with, just load the BIOS defaults to make sure everything's working OK before doing any tweaking with the exception of disabling the onboard sound.

5) I personally use the AFlash method myself. However, I wouldn't bother upgrading unless you need to. The current final version is 1002. There are a bunch of 1003 betas, but nothing is final with 1003 yet.

As far as your USB issue, have you checked out AsusBoards forum ? They could probably point you in the right direction. Steveo (poster over there) has put together a great install guide for the P4PE as well.

There shouldn't be much of a problem with the USB. I mean the only real difference with USB 2 is the chip itself, the cables, headers, and the whole rest of the damn thing stays the same.

Why do some cases with front USB say USB 2.0 and others don't? Are you sure you'll still get USB 2.0 speed? I'm just carious because I wondered the same thing.
