Hey there,
I bought a DVD Burner today, the BenQ 1620, and it's time to install it. As far as hardware installations go, I am relatively new, having only installed RAM and a sound card in the past. (Those were simple enough) 🙂
Anyway, I just have a simple question:
I'm looking at the power connectors right now. The connector that is attached to my current CDRW has 1 yellow, 2 black, and 1 red wire. The one connected to my hard drive has 2 yellow, 4 black, and 2 red wires. Two power connectors with 1 yellow, 2 black, 1 red each are attached to my floppy drive and a side case fan respectively.
This leaves me with one available power connector which has 2 yellow, 4 black, and 2 red wires attached to it. My gut feeling is that this does not matter, but I just want to make sure I can indeed use this to connect to my DVD Burner without it getting too much juice and frying or something.
So I guess what I'm asking is if all of these connectors are interchangeable and "standardized". 🙂
I know the answer is probably simple but better safe then sorry. Thanks in advance. 🙂
