This project started with a buget of $700.00 and ended costing about $950.00 with shipping

Now that I got all the peices I am scare to touch anything.

what I'm concered about is after installing everything will this baby boot.

I need the following question anwsered.

amd 4in1 drives.?

3. I got a boot disk from my win98se backup disk from my old rig. will
this work to install win98 on my new rig?

4. I don't know where my ID for my win98 is, I think a copy is on my
old rig, do anybody know where it is?

5. what order should I install my drive or does it matter, I think it
does from what I read from the forum

6. Do I need any drives for my MITSUMI fd no drives came with it.

7. Do anyone know a site that can help me with config this system IE:
boot-up installing win 98 etc.

8. As you can see I'm scared most of installing the software and drives
then putting in the peices.

Thanks in advance for your help

1. How should I handle my cd-rw , hdd😀Text

You got it down on this part, you don't want your cd-rom to be master.. because if it started reading and taking up all the IDE bandwith, the HDD would have to wait. This sets the HDD as priority

2. I did'nt get no software with my Abit-Kt7a board what software

4in1 drivers are the main part, might want to grab a heat monitoring program to be safe. Check tweakfiles

3. I got a boot disk from my win98se backup disk from my old rig. will

Yes it should, you can always set your bios to boot from the cd-rom, and use the Win98SE cd-rom to boot & install

4. I don't know where my ID for my win98 is, I think a copy is on my

Go into start > settings > control panel > system

On the first tab, under "Registered too" it should say last line after Person & buisiness

[/i]5. what order should I install my drive or does it matter, I think it
does from what I read from the forum[/i]

I think you mean drivers? I would start with essentials and move down.. video card, modem/network card, sound card, cd-r software, etc

6. Do I need any drives for my MITSUMI fd no drives came with it.

Only if you plan on using DOS Mode, the Win98 boot should have some default drivers for cd-rom loading so you can install

[/i]7. Do anyone know a site that can help me with config this system IE:
boot-up installing win 98 etc.

Not off hand, but it should be pretty simple. Put the cd in, choose what you want, reboot a few times, and your all set

8. As you can see I'm scared most of installing the software and drives

When touching your computer parts, ALWAYS make sure you ground yourself first. (touch the chassis of the case before touching anything electronic). Also make sure that there is NOTHING metal touching the motherboard, use plastic spacers if possible, if not use the rubber washers to be sure.

As far as drivers, don't worry to much, they are alot easier to correct than a fried component.

Good job Packet !!!
POSTER : go to google.com and type in ...assembling a computer....or...computer assembly and spend a day or two looking at sites. There are many with photos and item to item descriptions. You need to study a little. Go have some fun....and........reeeelaxxxxxx

I have been to many sites and read and re-read everything, however it seems that all the sites end with put all the peices together but don't go into booting up and installing the drives, then again i may be wrong tweak.3d has infor on some things but I guess I just have the jitters. after all this is my first time.
