I've just built my first system. My setup is
amd athlon 2100+ thoroughbred B
msi k7n2l nforce2 motherboard
512mb (2x256) pc2700 azenram
ati radeon 9500 pro
sb live value
maxtor 13gb harddrive
maxtor 60gb harddrive
antec slk3700amb case with antec 350 watt psu
My question is, how should i approach overclocking this system? My motherboard seems to have very limited overclocking options. The fsb can only be set to 100, 133, 166 and the multiplier can't go higher than 13. To overclock at all, i would have to set the fsb to 166 since 133x13=1729=stock speed, correct? The only thing i've tried so far is 166x12=1992 and my system wouldn't boot. Shouldn't this processor overclock higher than 2000mhz?
Another thing i don't understand is when my motherboard was running on default settings, 100mhz fsb and the multiplier on auto, it still detected the processor as a 2100+. With the fsb at 100 and the max multiplier being 13, the processor couldn't have been running faster than 1300 mhz, could it? Shouldn't it have detected it as a 1700+ or something?
Right now I'm running with fsb at 133 and muliplier on auto (i assume it's at 13).
