The measurement of a square-framed fan is the perpendicular distance between one side of the frame and the opposite, parallel side.Originally posted by: lopri
Are you sure about that? I mean, that'd be a good news (since it'd allow fan swap) but I have a hard time making sense out of it.
CNPS9500
112x126
CNPS9700
124x142
CNPS9500 makes use of a 92mm fan, correct? If a 120mm fan fits in the CNPS9700, the specs from Zalman leaves only 4mm of clearance + outer-ring for the fins. Is that possible?

Just seems crazy expensive.
MSRP of $69 vs the 9500's MSRP of $59 sure ... but $79? ... come on.

Doesnt change the fact its kinda high priced, Jedi. Considering there are other bigger, heavier, and better performing HSF that are cheaper. The Zalman 9500 LED is even cheaper than the non-LED version. Zalman has some strange pricing on these particular units IMO. Prices may come down however once its been out a little while.

The size of the fan in the 9700 is the same as the size of the spinning part in a regular 120mm fan.

Can you specify where the numbers 110mm, 120mm, and 124mm are coming from?Originally posted by: lopri
OK I'm hearing that the fan is 110mm. I mean, how do you come up with 120mm, when the spec says 124mm wide?
So, are you saying this and this are actually 110mm fans?Originally posted by: Howard
Damn it. Alright, to put an end to this nonsense, I've measured a Yate Loon D12SL-12 fan...
