EDIT: It's my work commute btw..

I guess it depends on how fast you walk, but I think this will take you atleast 30 mins to walk (if there aren't too many don't walk signs that get in the way)... also when it snows/rains it would suck to walk the 2 miles... I

If its too hot out... u don't want to show up to work sweating :)

So, doable... yes... would I do it? Prolly two or three times a week when it's nice and springy temps out (55 to 75 degrees)...

you can do it. i wouldn't advise it when it rains/snows or is super humid out (it can get like that and you feel your clothes sticking to you from the moment you step outside). a bus/subway is a nice option; it only costs $2 each way.

Actually only $1.67 each way if you put at least $10 at a time on your MetroCard :)

:| you better edit that friggin post before the MTA sees it and decides to raise the fare again!

???

The base fare has been $2 for a while now and the discounted fare (30-day pass) is cheaper ride than it was in the 1980's. Plus, service and cleanliness is many times better than in the 1980's. So what are you complaining about?

service? i take the 6, E, V, and R. have you seen how bad it is with the R in terms of frequency? 6 trains have problems every other day with "sick passenger, signal problems, or congested tunnels"

cleaniness? go take the walkway tunnel from EV/6 train at the lexington ave stop. the smell can practically kill me. i avoid it now by switching trains at the R stop.

maybe it has improved. but is merely improving enough? if you were getting zeroes on all your exams, now you're getting 30s. that's an improvement but would you be satisfied?

i'm not nitpicking one or two thins but i'm showing you how bad it is with the condition on some of the stations. don't get me started in queens, everytime it rains, it also rains... underground!

my gf work for a contractor firm who works with the MTA, you won't believe how much money is blown on useless crap.

I usually only ride the A subway line and the train across to NJ/NY

I have no complaints about their service.

I take those same trains all the time...

Theres always an R when i need it...

you can't blame sick passengers or congested tunnels on the MTA, thats the riders fault. if people dind't hold the doors, if they only stepped out of the way when people exit the cars....simple things like that the trains wouldn't have to make such long stops...

as for that tunnel...yeh 51st and lex....that place stinks...but its been like that forever....and i dont expect them to clean it up anytime soon.
