New Yorkers HELP... is this walkable??

Sure it's doable. When I lived on LI I used to walk more than that on a daily basis.
Subway is much better though.

you can probably make that in about 30 minutes, unless there is a *lot* of traffic on the sidewalk.

it's my walk from/to work though. Not "this one time in the band camp i walked like 10 miles and i was cool" or something ...

I know it can be done, but is it feasible on daily basis? ... i walk from/to work here in A2 which is some 1.2 miles

It's not far, strenuous, or time-consuming... but you have to think about weather, what you may be carrying, and if you walk briskly you may sweat.

Is there something special about New York, or are you asking if 2 miles each way is doable?

oh i'm not planning on driving. I've seen how you all drive though... doesn't make me feel any safer as a pedestrian.

They're not all bad. Manhattan drivers are either very very good or very bad. There's no in between though.

All depends on how much time you give yourself in the morning, and how quickly you want to get home. Not a bad walk really. Get some exercise. It's nice around now. Of course, it gets really humid here in the summer so if you want to feel "fresh" arriving at the office, probably not a good idea unless you're going to shower at work.

Uh you should be asking yourself. Can you walk 2 miles each way on a daily basis?

Walk when it's dry, and take the subway or a cab when it's raining.

It would be great for your health.
