And I think thats only going to get worse. I have a plumber friend whose business is going crazy because there is so much work and so little competition. Same for my friend who owns his own HVAC business. I'll be sure to let them know that they aren't successes because they never went to college. I've seen some of the prices they get to charge now and am very thankful I can do a lot of work myself and get a friend discount on the work I can't.

All I know is my accounting degree will prove useful when I start my new plumbing/HVAC business.

Government going to pay for college? Prepare for tuition to skyrocket.

Why? This is a program for NYS residents to attend public state schools. The state, not the individual universities in the SUNY system, controls the tuition costs.

Tuition at Suny is up over 30% in the last 5 years and is not far out of line with other public school increases so its not like having state oversight has kept tuition in check. At best this does nothing to curb the upward trend in tuition cost

It has gone up, but it's not like tuition is outrageous at SUNY school as an in-state resident:

(and the numbers in the link are all before any sort of financial aide kicks in)

I looked into and according to a study that calculates from actual figures, and not just correlation models or downright false stats, the bulk of increase is from reduced state support:
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/04/05/opinion/sunday/the-real-reason-college-tuition-costs-so-much.html, so basically the fed loans are covering for state shortfall.

For example, that NYT pieces claims the # of full time faculty stayed constant from 75 to 08 while "administrative staff" quadruples, which is likely a result of conflating additional adjunct type staff into the latter figure, since it's rather unlikely there's been no teaching staff increase despite rise in enrollment.

It also rather makes sense given the conservatives here which make up half the political clout love to cut spending, and support for cutting them commie leftist schools is evidently popular, and appears to be in their demographic self-interest for obvious reasons.
