NYC is beautiful and it is a good time of year. Lots to do (If your into clubbing etc.) Museums, Broadway shows. (sure to keep the lady happy ;) ) Liberty Statue is cool also.(crazy French people!) And don't forget giant cheap yummy (HUGE) calzones in the Village mMMmmmmmMMm!

True Venice beach sure has a lot to look at for you but taking the woman out to a night on THE town on Broadway is guarenteed nookie. (erm I mean a culturally rich experience!)

blech LA looks like any other US city full of drive throughs and strip malls (just more palm trees and a LOT more suburbia) BTW SF owns LA but then I live there :p

Well, the only issue is that LA is a bit more $$$ for the flight than NY, but isn't NY more $$ overall? I haven't been to NYC in 10 years.

I'd rate NYC and LA about equal as far as expenses go. the hotel in NYC might run a bit more, but you won't have to worry about renting a car (subway to any of the touristy spots is both easy and safe).

Plus, lots more to do in NYC. I visited my cousin there last summer for a week, and got pretty bored with the tourist stuff after the first few days.

are you thinking of going soon or sometime over the summer? nyc's weather can get very oppressive in late july and august.

Welcome to LA.

Everywhere is an hour and a half drive from your hotel.

Gotta love the LA traffic...

NY...Manhattan is da shiznit compared to L.A.

You can walk just about anywhere you want to go or just a short subway ride away. L.A. is all highway jammed with cars.

Depends on if you want to veg on a beach (if so, I can think of dozens of places better than L.A.) or enjoy the offerings of a big city.

NY > LA anyday. You can do more in one block of Manhattan than you can do in the whole city of LA. Plus you don't have to sit in traffic all day to get there.

^ that about covers everything. I don't know how this is even a competition. When I went to LA, I was severely disappointed.

LA! I love LA!! :D

Just make sure you take her to Venice, Santa Monica, and Magic Mountain! Oh, and if you want to see a movie, you have to go to The Bridge or the ArcLight . :D

If it's beach you want, don't go to LA. Plenty of better beaches in other places. If beach isn't in your plans, definitely come to NY.

NY is more money, but you don't have to rent a car.

LA is a little less money, but you'd have to rent a car.

Can't go wrong with either. I live only 6 hours from NYC and I've only been theres 5 times for 1-2 days per trip, but had a blast every time. I've been to LA 4 times for a week each trip. I have a brother that lives there, so it was almost like a VIP pass into doing certain things like getting into clubs that most wait in line for many hours(i.e. Viper Room, Sky Bar).
