Miles of backups and bridge closings in NYC due to searches being conducted at bridges. Twenty minute rides turned into four hour waits. Little warning of actions caused commuters to run right into the fray.

Anyone have any info?

I just saw on the news that Giuliani is looking to make it mandatory that people carpool if they want to enter Manhattan, perhaps starting this Thursday.

Life in America has permanently changed due to the attacks. Nothing will be the same again. National ID cards (maybe hooked to DNA samples), face scans at airports, no backpacks at sporting events, no tailgate parties etc. etc. Everywhere you go, you will be scrutinized.
This will not be just for a while, but indefinitely.
Better start getting used to it.

I think the previous poster goes a little too far in his Ms. Cleo predictions of the future. Yes you'll have to give 2 hours at the airport instead of 1 before leaving for a flight. However Americans are not a people to live in fear. Terrorists will not have the final victory.
