From 7:30PM to 10:00PM tomorrow night I'll be near Radio City Music Hall while my wife and her friends go to the Christmas show there. I didn't get a ticket so I need to find something to do. We're from out of state so I don't know what my options are. I wouldn't mind just sitting down eating some kick ass pizza (suggestions?) or chilling at a coffee shop.

We're going from Jersey City to there probably around 5-6PM and then leaving after the show. How bad of an area is it and how safe of a travel is the subway? I think we're taking the subway to the city and I'd like to bring my laptop in my backpack to help pass the time wherever I decide to hang out for those few hours. Good idea or bad? I have no idea!

Also, Saturday we're taking two kids to the city for the day (4 year old girls). Any suggestions for things to do? Thanks!

Manhattan is safe. Even Harlem is getting ritzy now. Just stay out of Central Park after dark and don't take the subway at like 3am.

Hang out at the TKTS booth at Times Square. Get a Doughnut Plant Doughnut from a stall called the Snack Box that's also right there, try the Tres Leches.

You have time, might as well walk up to the Apple store. You don't have to like Apple products, the store has a really cool design (It's underground). The walk up 5th Ave is beautiful and peaceful at night.

There are no cool coffee shops in that area. It's all touristy stuff. Same goes for pizza. Personally I think they have better plain pizza in NJ. Specialty pizza is better in the city though.

After 8pm walk up the 53rd st and 6th Ave and check out the long ass line for the chicken and rice cart. It's on the south side of the Hilton. The do an awesome job for $6,

Take your kids to Carnegie Deli for lunch and order the Super Pastrami. It's massive and could feed 2 very hungry adults, there is a $3 sharing fee though. Then for dessert get the strawberry cheese cake. The rest of the stuff is hit or miss, but those two items are awesome. Bring cash, but they might have started to take credit cards recently, I think I saw a CC machine last time I was in.

FAO Schwarz is a must see for kids. The Toys R Us and M&M store are fun.

You might be able to scalp a ticket in front of Radio City. They will be cheaper after the show is starting as the scalpers will be desperate to get rid of them, so wait and haggle with them.

Yeah you could be out and about in manhattan be okay even at 2 am :)

Funny you mention the halal chicken and rice cart at 53. I have made the line and it is really good food out of that cart.
