Some of my religious fanatics are telling me this is when the real millenium is beginning.. at least in religious terms and that we should all be fearful. What are they talking about???

Sigh...

There was no year zero. We started at year 001. Therefore at 12 midnight tonight, we will have completed 2000 years, or 2 millenium.

Kapish? ;)

Happy New Millennium, it starts tonight.

The entire calendar we use is somewhat arbitrary and offset with errors from the past. So just say happy New Year and happy New Millennium if you are so inclined. It's really just a date on the calendar that has changed.

I don't really care if it is the new millenium or not. It's just an excuse to party and have a good time!!!

There is no roman numeral 0. Back when A.D. started roman numerals were used for the number of the year. "Arabic" numbers didn't come into use until the 1400's. Thus the first year in the first millenium was I or 1. The first year in the third millenium will be 2001. Kubrick knew what he was doing.

If you start counting at the beginning of A.D. time, then tonight is the end of the 2nd millenia. Technically, there is always a new millenium beginning. Do not listen to what your religious say, this is not armageddon(sp?) and the world is not going to end. People have been predicting that since religion was invented. It was predicted last new years, didn't happen. It was also predicted for sometime this past spring, didn't happen. The world is not going to end until the sun explodes in a few billion years, so don't get too worried.
