Greetings,

Here's my problem. Brand new XPC Neon with the FB51 Motherboard. Added memory, processor and drive, fired it up....nothing, blank monitor, no drive activity. Tried another memory stick, cleared CMOS, still nothing. I noted, in the FB51 mainboard manual, page 40, states "Don't support double sided X16 DDR DIMMs". The memory sticks I've tried were from Rosewill and Crucial. They both have chips on both sides of the PCB. Could this be the problem? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

TIA,
Mark Reckinger

Go to www.crucial.com and use the upgrade databse. For a motherboard brand and model number and it gives you a list of recommended MEMORY PARTS that they say will work. You can see if your parts are listed or not. There is always the off chance that you are grounding the motherboard somehow or dont have the CPU set up correctly. I know you may not get a boot if the CPU cooling fan is not connected to the CPU Fan Plug. Also check to see if the power on wires are hooked up correctly. Then verify the video card is installed correctly. Did you use integrated video or a video card? Try integrated video first to change the setting for the video card in the BIOS.

which one is the neon?

so it turns on, but nothing else... try pulling everything but the cpu and memory, use onboard video (if it has it). try different memory first (or alternate sticks if you have 2). if that still doesn't work, I'd RMA everything and get new replacements everything... troubleshooting each component and RMAing until you find what is broken would be a serious pain. Then build up the system with memory and cpu only, then start adding drives, cards, etc.
