New XP2400+ AIXIB??

Hey, I got a new retail package XP2400+ from Newegg, expecting an AIUHB stepping....but the one I got is an AIXIB? I can't find any information anywhere on the net about this stepping! Anyone know anything about it? Does it O/C well? For now I was going to put this in my Abit KT-7 RAID board and run it @2200, but I was hoping to maybe get it a bit higher when I finally upgraded the board. I knew I could do that with the AIUHB, but I don't know what the hell this one is. The full markings on the chip are:

AXDA2400DKV3C Y862314270059
AIXIB 0330WPMW

Anyone know? I think it's really weird that there's no information anywhere on this! Maybe I got one of the first ones?

Looks like a new stepping... theres some guy at the amdmb.com forums with a 2400 like yours... his sig says, his username is Blito:

AMD Athlon XP 2400+ AIXIB @ 2121=202x10.5 & 1.7V... that's on a stock heatsink.

Heh, that's what I figured...That's kinda cool 🙂. The included HSF is also 10x better than I thought it was gonna be - it came with a Cu/Al cooler rated up to an xp3200+ with the stock 18CFM :Q fan! 😀 So I figure, I replace the fan and I won't have to buy a new one like I thought I would, since I'm not planning on going much past 2.2GHz for now anyways.

One more thing - I found an AMD CPU decoder tool on the net and plugged in my numbers, and it says it's downgraded from an xp2700+??!! Is this specific to this stepping, or are all 2400+ Tbred B's like that? Either way, I'm happy. Go Newegg!

some Athlons... are usually downgraded versions of other processors... so i guess you can assume you can go to 2700+ speeds with little problem... if any. 🙂

the downgrade theory that the guy came up with is complete .... bull....

it's not true... those two numbers don't mean the model it was downgraded from...

i once had a 2500+ barton that says it was a "downgrade" from a 2400+... does that make sense to you?

i think not...

Yeah, it just has to do with the quality of the yields.

im wondering, are the thourobreds or thortons' that you got?? could u please check if the chip you got is the same size as a barton?? or take pix

As requested, here's a pic.....

It's the best one I could get, I took like 30 of them, heh. The camera didn't want to focus enough so you could read the numbers, but they should be mostly legible in the pic. The earliest reference I can find to this chip is about Oct 12 or so, so they must have JUST started shipping these :Q.
