New XP Home --> Old XP Pro

I have an old XP Pro Upgrade Academic (possibly prior to SP1) that I would like to use to upgrade a new XP Home SP2 OEM.

However, the XP Pro disc says that I can't because the Windows currently installed is newer than the Windows on the disc. Is there anyway to get around it?

Slipstream SP2? I have done an XP Home to XP Pro upgrade before, so I know that it can work.

The problem is the updated files in the Home with SP2 have newer version dates etc than the old pre SP1 Pro... If you slipstream SP2 into the Pro version it should work just fine.

Haven't had to try it myself, but these instructions look about right.

need a retail version of nero, thanks for the effort though, it almost worked.

Anything that can create bootable discs is fine. These instructions cover Roxio as an alternative. This article notes some others. It's been a while since I did this type of upgrade, but I'm not actually sure you need a bootable disc for what you want to do - that is, you may be able to do it within Windows.
