New XFX 680i LT Installation

As a weekend project, I did my bi-annual PC upgrade. Out came Athlon 64 3400+, Gigabyte MB, 2Gb PC3200 RAM, and Nvidia 5900FX AGP Card. I?m going to an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, on an XFX nForce 680i LT Motherboard with 4Gb of Patriot PC6400 Extreme Performance Memory and an XFX 8800 GT XXX 512 Mb Alpha Dog Edition Video Card. I retained my WD 150 Gb IDE HD (Master) and DVD-R-RW IDE Optical Drive (Slave). I have no SATA Drives.
I took my time with the assembly process, made sure all connections were correct and tight. After assembly, I reconnected everything and hit the Power-on. Following the instructions, as the computer went into POST, I pressed the DEL key to get into BIOS Setup.
However, instead of getting the BIOS set-up screen, I got a message to the effect that either the bios had been flashed or the CPU had been changed and that a Hard Boot was necessary and to turn off the computer and restart it.
I did; it when through POST too quickly to read everything and the stopped with: Boot from CD? The XFX Installation CD was in the Drive so I hit enter but nothing happened but a repeat of: Boot from CD?
I tried pressing the reset button and now, except for the Power LED, nothing happens. I tried disconnecting the power and resetting the CMOS but it had no effect. When I power on, the is no HD activity. All I have is a Unit with a red Power light and a couple of LEDs on the MB that show when Power is available and all my fans running.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I had a similar problem recently on a build. I have really similar hardware and I had everything hooked up and I could get the computer to do anything. I did a little of research and I had to take out 2 gigs of ram, leaving 2, for the computer to boot. I am still unable to get the machine to work with more than 2 gigs. So try taking 2 of those sticks out and fire it up.

Thanks for the idea. I had tried it at the suggestion of XFX Tech support but it didn't work for me. They have since concluded the board has a defective BIOS and TigerDirect has shipped me a replacememt. When I do the rebuild, I'll follow your advise and just use a single 2Gb stick and hold off on the other until after I've installed Vista Ultimate.
