FWIW, you can look at my sig. Most fanboys don't, you know, own all the other systems. I call it like I see it, and I stand by my comments. At least you know I have personal experience with all those systems, so my opinion might actually be based on something resembling reality.
To be fair, I called you a fanboy not because of how many consoles you do or do not own, but because of how quickly you jumped to your feet after being provoked by a rather benign, tongue-in-cheek comment.
Keep in mind that a lot of the categorical "360 hate" is also based on reality. I remember when anyone who complained about the RRoD was labeled a PS3 fanboy or a child who didn't know how to take care of their equipment. More recently, the same can be said for disc scratching. Facts are surfacing, however, that indicate if your 360 is on and loaded, it can wreck a disc. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if we come to find that this is even more common than the RRoD ever was, because it's absolutely independent of the operating conditions and solely the product of the quality of the components. With the RRoD, you weren't actually
guaranteed a failure; it was just a very real possibility due to design vulnerabilities. With disc scratching, it's almost an inevitability.
Fortunately, despite the scratches, all of my discs are still readable, but I've read many counts of those not so lucky. I'm sure that, given time, mine will suffer a similar fate.
it only scratches them if you're dumb and move the thing while it's on
But honestly, this is actually why I responded to you, as it's a rather unfair statement that falsely generalizes both the 360 and its users.

The simple fact remains that 360s don't crack discs - in rare cases, they scratch them.
While I'm quite sure the original comment by Baked was a tongue-in-cheek poke not to be taken so literally, it does properly characterize the typical "360 experience", which is often plagued by hardware failures, disc read errors, maimed discs, fragmented hard drives, and now, discs that are damaged right out of the box. I just purchased NHL 09, and out of the box, it looks like someone took a piece of steel wool to it. Of course, most of my discs look like that simply because they've spent time spinning in the 360's gauntlet.
