I tried to pm at my local CC and BB but they wouldn't do it. Following the shocked looks on their face, they told me they wouldn't pm because it was a grand opening (special event) and only at one location (as opposed to all meijer locations). so I took the half hour drive to go buy one last night.

btw I got a philips drive in my xbox and I'm assuming these are all v1.6 since mine was made not even two months ago.

Got mine too. Haven't opened the box yet, but I couldn't pass up the price.
Geez was that place a madhouse and the cashiers cruising at speeds bordering glacial. They probably had about 30 or so when I was in there around 7:45pm tonight. I thought about getting 2, and probably should have, but I'm fine with the one. Now to hit ebay for some accessories.

I talked to my local meijers here in michigan and the rep said they would price match. But now I'm not sure I want it, all the games for it that are worthwhile I already have for the PC. What kind of mods can you do to it? I'm tempted to get it for the cheap price, but thats still $100 less to spend on my new PC coming in july.

Think of it this way, after modding, the XBox basically is a PC, for $100. (A 733Mhz one, granted, but good enough for a lot of things, like a networked HTPC/Mediaplayer that you can stream movies off of your main PC via a network link, for example.)

great price. if I was back at home in the midwest I'd grab me another one. these things are great once you get it hacked load up xbox media center its proubly the only reason I use my xbox as much as I do, hell it replaced my tivo do in part to another program called bit torrent but I won't get into that program here. heck I've heard thier close to getting this thing to play HDTV streams, via programable shaders on the geforce chip

I took mine apart before I even pulled any of the cables out of the plastic to check what version it is for sure. The manufacture date was 4-23-2004. Mine has the xcalibur (or Xyclops or whatever it is) chip, so it's the 1.6 version (latest). Mine also has a Phillips DVD drive.

Pecos....FYI currently there are no mods available for v 1.6 unless they have the Xenium chip up to spec...

Yup, I know that. Which is fine for me right now. Hopefully the Xecutor3 will be out soon. That may be the one I'd go for. At the moment anyhow.

is it possible to use an Xbox as a tivo? if so i would buy xbox despite not getting it for 99$, i mean it does all these things you guys have mentioned the xbox looks like it should cost 299$again from MS if they added the modded features
