Thanks for the heads up. I haven't rebooted my PC for quite some time. I should have checked the up time before I restarted. As soon as I booted back up, Samsung had a firmware update that also required me to shutdown. I might have been at 100 days. LOL

People are reporting issues after installing the latest chipset drivers while running sfc/scannow: taking an extremely long time to finish e.g. 25m

Yeah, that's pretty odd. I ran it before updating and it took about a minute. Running it again after updating and it just hangs for minutes at a time at various percentages consistent across multiple runs (31%, 56%, 90%, 92%, 94%).

Perhaps it's a mitigation effort against the latest Spectre/Meltdown variant.

More comments on other threads and it looks like the issue with sfc/scannow was related to Windows Defender, an update to WD should fix the issue I assume.

EDIT: installing them now, will report back

EDIT2: no issues, scan completed in normal time

No problems on my end with the new drivers. SFC /scannow also no issues.

No problem here either, but I don't use Windows defender.

Any reason?
I have been windows defender only for at least six years without any real problems other than random bs like something gets added to browser bar or windows asks for access for a game.

I use Bitdefender. This will be my third year using it. Windows Defender is better than nothing, but there’s paid options that are better.

I like how various unheard of members randomly vote down posts in the hardware section. Odd passive-aggressive behavior. Similar to how some kids would go to the Principles office to report jimmy for saying something they didn’t want to hear.
BTW down voting does nothing.
