Does anyone know why CNQ would hinder me from being able to do a soft reset from Windows? I'm currently running an eval. copy of XP Pro x64 edition with all the prereq's for CNQ (enabled in BIOS, AMD 64-bit driver, Minimal Power Mgmt). It worked just fine with my Winchester 3200+, even with it OC'ed to 2.4Ghz. Any ideas?

Are you using the A64 processor driver or the one for the X2? There's two of them...

I'm not at home to confirm, but I'm almost positive I downloaded the X2 64-bit driver (I did a fresh install of XP Pro x64 after I upgraded). I remember clicking on the link for "AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor Utilities and Updates," which directs you to a page containing only downloads for the X2. I'll update when I get off work this afternoon. Thanks.

Okay, I reinstalled the X2 64-bit driver just to be sure, and I got the same results. Any other ideas? Could it be my new, soon to be returned, PSU?

don't know anything about your motherboard or bios, maybe you should check to see if the current version supports CnQ, and also look up on to see if there's a microsoft release patch for dual cores on power management, might have something to do with x64...

My motherboard and BIOS both support CNQ (see sig for mobo model, BIOS version). As I stated earlier, CNQ worked fine when I had a 3200+ Winchester stuck in my board. The only things that changed were the PSU and CPU. My NeoPower died on me, and I bought a 400W SmartPower 2.0, which I'm probably just going to return, as a replacement until Antec RMA's my Neopower and as a future backup.

I've had some wierd issues with this new PSU, and I think I might exchange it just because the price is so great. However, in hindsight, I haven't had much luck with products purchased from my local CC. I bought a Radeon 9700 Pro, which I had to exchange because the 1st one exhibited all sorts of artifacts. To add, the heatsink/fan on the one I settled with eventually died less than a year after purchase. I also bought a 350W SmartPower 1.0 for my brother's machine several months ago, and it's been running quite hot, not to mention the rails aren't quite stable.

Anyway, as far as MS support articles, the only related articles I found are below, and none of them seem to apply to my situation. Hopefully my new NeoPower PSU will resolve my issue. Otherwise, I'll just have to do without it until I get a new board (thinking SLI-DR Expert).

Holy sheet, I set HTT to 5x (had it at 4) and I can do a soft reset now with CNQ enabled. Is this a requirement? Won't this hinder me once I get an XP-90 and try to OC with CNQ enabled? Then again, this could be my PSU or it could be the fact that I'm using the RTM 1830 eval. version of XP Pro x64. Anyway, has anyone with XP Pro 32-bit and an X2 gotten CNQ working with a HTT multiplier other than 5?
