NEW x1900xt Clock speeds normal?

There is no problem. It clocks down for 2D, when you go 3D (such as a game) it clocks up. Same as NV cards do.

You don't understand, It's SUPPOSED to be underclocked in 2d mode. If you try to put it to 3d speeds in 2d mode you'll get artifacts like crazy, because 2d mode supplies less voltage to the card, therefore making it produce less heat, therefore making it quieter for typing etc. For games it goes up to the rated clockspeeds, for high performance in games. Don't try to overclock the 2d mode, if you want to overclock just do 3d. Of course, if your letters don't pop up on the screen fast enough you could try to overclock 2d 😛

I'd check out your clock speeds while running 3D apps. My X1900 XT wasn't changing automatically, until I unlocked ATI Overdrive and selected the preserve at logon option.

does unlocking the overdrive part of the ATI control center void warranty? will changing those clock speeds void ati warranty?
