New Wireless Router

Hi all,

I currently use a D-Link DI-624 Wireless router.
The base is in my basement among the main computer, now the range only reaches my living room, and not the bedrooms being further in the top floor and away.
I bought a DWL-G800AP Wireless Range Extender and couldn't get it to work, after that, I also purchased a DWL-G710 Wireless Range Extender from D-Link which did not pick the range as well (promised plug-n-play).

I don't want D-Link anymore, I have spent about 250$ on network gear that don't work and serve me well.

Now, I want to buy a new router that will reach all my house, and I don't mind spending extra for extenders to make it work perfect.

I thoguth about these options:
-Belkin Wireless Pre-N Router G
-Netgear WPN824 RangeMax MIMO-G Wireless Network Router

Now, will these plug and play to my cable modem and right away work as a router like the current D-Link? which one will work better for me? (more range).

Is the Netgear WGXB102 extenders worth the investment (review here) or I should buy other extenders? any to recommend?

Thanks!

There is an Inherit issues in providing extended coverage for Wireless Network Connection.

It is very hard to impossible to predict ahead what exactly would work in any specific environment.

Professionals that do many installations can predict better if they Actually See the Place because they see many types of environments, and by sheer experience, they know what type of solution would work well in a given environment.

The best solution that always works entails putting few Access Points in key areas and connecting them together with Cat5e wires. It is not very popular among Home users since it involves a combination of Wire and Wireless.

Otherwise is matter of trial and error.

With price of the MIMO (Pre-N), devices falling bellow $100; many people seem to think that it would solve their distance problem.

Well, it might or might Not, and there is an issue, if it does not solve the problem, it is hard to extend the MIMO since there is No selection of secondary Hardware (like repeaters and Antennae) that fits MIMO devices.

So what to do?

Buy a MIMO from a reputable vendor that has a liberal returning policy. If it does not cover the needed distance, return it promptly.

Secondary to MIMO you can try the Buffalo High power line. Buffalo has a selection of any imaginable Wireless device. It is stable Hardware thta WDS as is. At the end it might cost more than the common "On Sale Mega Stores Wireless" but it should work well.
