I just installed a wireless network in my home using smc wireless usb adapters, and a smc wireless router. my mainline is off a cable modem. most of the time, the network runs great, but every few minutes it is choppy. i didnt notice it until i tried to do some online gaming. when it cuts out, its only for a second or two, but is pretty annoying during an online game. i never had this problem when i had the network hardwired. is there anyway to correct this??

Choppy as in high-latency i'm assuming?

#1 Welcome to the world of wireless networks
#2 Try repositioning the cable modem to accomodate a better line of sight with the clients
#3 make sure firmware is up to date on the SMC Router
#4 suffer! i have the same problems with wireless 😛

im a little mad about this whole wireless thing. i updated the firmware, and tried to update the drivers on my wireless adapters, but when i update the wireless adapters, i lose my network connection. this sucks. i think im just going to get the house wired

I have a wireless network. 2 desktops, 1 server, and 2 Laptops. I will never put desktops or server on wireless. Only laptops for that reason.

My neighbors have a linksys BEFSR11S4 router with two wireless desktop machines (one using a MS wireless usb client and the other using a Linksys wireless usb client). They have never complained of choppiness. Not sure what you mean here.

I do not believe the above should happen but I am not completely sure. What type of computers are these adapters attached to? Do they have usb 2.0 ports? We need JackMDS in on this one 🙂😀

they're connected to usb 2.0 ports on 2 desktops and a laptop. all the comps are sufficiently powerful to deal with. i never had this prob when i had the network hardwired
