Hey there,
I was having an insane hard time getting XP PRO to install at
all on my system. Some one mentioned trying to check
my HDD. Well I got desperate. Since my HDD is a Quantum and
they got bought out by MAXTOR I went to:
Windows Support link (from Maxtor Site)
(In english of course)
Use the TROUBLESHOOTING area
Well...here's what I found out. All of their probs are linked up
to the MS tech support database. Not only that but, they also
give extra info that MS leaves out... ie: SMARTDRV and such.
For you advanced users this may not be new....but for those of
you that need a hand....try it out. I know not all of you
have Quantum or Maxtor drives but alot of this info is indifferent
about the HDD. It gives support for probs experience with
Windows and as many of us know THOSE kinds of probs are alot
of times NOT HDD specific. I am not trying to advertise for Maxtor.
I am only trying to spread the word on some valuable info I found
there. For me it hit every prob I had right on the nose. I now know
what I have to do to try and get XP PRO to install.
