New Win7 install, connection to network

I got this refurb a week ago and when I tried to connect to my wireless network (Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 wireless router), the installed Vista Business Professional couldn't connect the first 5 or so times I entered the connection string, but then connected.

I just swapped out the HD for a bigger one and installed Windows 7 64bit Ultimate and the connection was made on the first attempt. However, the installation didn't go on the intended partition, so I started over, repartitioned the drive and now when Windows asks me to connect to my wireless network and I enter the connection string, it fails to connect every time. I've tried around 15 times, no luck. What's wrong and what can I do? I can click Skip, but then Windows Updates won't be happening. 🙁

Wow, I just tried something else. I clicked the Refresh button and again had a choice between my network and my neighbor's, and I chose mine again and it connected on the first try. Goofy as hell...
