New Wii, what games do you recommend

I'm an older gamer, and my wife barely plays at all, but absolutely loved the bowling. I am really enjoying Mario Kart, what other interactive games would you recommend? And by older I mean 43.
Thanks.

Mario Galaxy is pretty amazing. That, Mario Cart, and Metroid are the favorites in our house.

boom blox might be a ton of fun w/ your wife.

any particular types you enjoy? because age doesn't really tell us anything.. I know folks older than love FPS's.. and some that love puzzles. and then that can be applied almost across the board

If you like pinball at all (even if you've only played it a few times when you were bored and thought it was somewhat fun) you should get Williams Pinball (full name is "Pinball Hall Of Fame: The Williams Collection").

It's $20 and it's fun fun fun. Lots of cool machines spanning decades. It's not a generic time-wasting pinball game like the one that ships with Windows - the tables are all recreated from real ones. They even have detailed instructions on all the scoring methods used for each table, how to unlock multi-ball, etc.

That sounds like fun.. How do the controls work ?

Very intuitive and simple. You use the Wiimote with the nunchuck. Left trigger operates the left bumper, right trigger does the right bumper, thumbstick on the nunchuck uses the plunger, and shaking one side or the other tilts the machine.

It's been a while since I sold my Wii, but I believe the game allows you to play with up to four people and you can use as many controllers as you have. So you can pass the controller around if you only have one.

Bought the pinball game today, for 20 bux you can't go wrong and I've only seen glowing reviews of it. Picking it up at lunch. Thanks again for the tip!

Wario Land: Shake It! has been pretty good so far.

You can't go wrong with Super Mario Galaxy and Resident Evil 4 either.

No More Heroes and Batallion Wars 2 I like... and a host of light gun games- namely Ghost Squad, House of the Dead 2/3, Link's Crossbow Training, Resident Evil: UC, Rayman Raving Rabbids 2, and the upcoming House of the Dead: Overkill. Medal of Honor 2 has a good light gun mode as well.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is amazing.

looking forward to Tatsunoko Vs Capcom

and the standard games like DDR, Rock Band, and Guitar Hero are all pretty fun.

people seem to really like Zack and Wiki and Bloombox,

Gosh, thanks. You've opened my eyes.
Actually, I've had more fun playing Wii than I have had playing a video game in a long time. It's fun, not serious, not trying to be leet, or own, and yes, I am very sorry I used the correct spelling and not leet speak spelling. Deal.

Have you ever heard of the RETURN ASAP game?

Just joking. There are a couple good games on the Wii.

Super Mario Galaxy is a blast. I fervently recommend it.

Mario Kart Wii is a good game if you have people to play it with.

MP3: Corruption is a pretty good adventure/FPS.

Also Zack and Wiki and Bloomblox are supposed to be really good, but I haven't played either.

Super Smash Bros Brawl is also fun if you have people to play with

A few games that I thought would be good but I ended up hating:
No More Heroes
Super Paper Mario

Although I think most of these games have been covered in this thread, this list from ign is pretty accurate.

I agree with Williams Pinball. I managed to pick this up for $14 on an amazon gold box and my wife and I have been playing it for about 2-3 weeks straight now. Lots of fun and table goals make it addicting.

Also, there are lots of classics released on the virtual console that are a great bargin plus the entire gamecube library is available to you if you missed that generation.

Wii Sports and Wii Fit are the 2 most played games on Wii until I sold it. I had Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime Corruption, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart Wii, Zack & Wiki, and Williams Pinball Collection. Found out Wii just wasn't for me. I play DS Lite more than anything else.
