New wifi router suggestions

Hello all,

My uncle needs a wifi router. His requirements are pretty simple- a reliable router for his 1100 sqft apartment. His router would support no more than 3 devices at once; iPad Air, laptop, and phone. Occasionally he can stream video from the iPad or laptop to the TV using an Apple TV. He has Comcast 50mb plan.
It's been a while since I shopped for a router. I have an AC based asus router that has great 2gz range, but the 5gz signal has very limited range.

What is a good, stable router that will provide good signals in a small apartment?

just upgrade his wifi with a dedicated Access Point.

Something like an Engenius AP500 or a Ubiquiti Unifi AP should mitigate his Wifi problems.

Also if he ever decides to upgrade the router, the access points can be moved onto the new router.
