everyone has to also note a few tangible differences (tangible meaning, the average user will notice).
THe WD actually has 34 GB more than the seagate because of the way they measure their drives.
(WD = 750,000 MB = formatted 732 GB, Seagate 750,000,000,000 B = 698 GB formatted)
This data has been confirmed by WD's and Seagates spec sheets.
Also, WD only has 3 year OEM warranty vs Seagate's 5 year retail/oem warranty.

This isn't true. Regardless of what the spec sheets say, these drives format to the same capacity.

Just got mine today. Shows as 698.64GB in XP Disk Management. It's quiet, but it runs very hot -- I'm transferring data with the new drive in an external USB case with the cover removed and the drive is hot to the touch. Once it's in my case, it will have active cooling, so hopefully that will improve things.

I've had some bad experiences with WD drives in the past, plus with buying on OP I'm not subject to the sales tax that I am on the Egg. I have two Seagates in my system now and really like it, I too remember WD drives running very hot. I placed an order for one of both, going to run the 500 as my Vista boot, the 750 for a backup. Even with overnight shipping it's cheaper. Just a heads up.
