New weekend toy

Summer is here and weather is nice. Having got rid of my yellow Boxster couple years back and regretting it ever since, I got the itch to get another sports convertible. So I decided to get an used Honda S2000. I wanted a white one with red seats. After looking for couple of days, I found one for sale for cheap and bought it today.

Now I just have to learn how to drive a stick.

:Q Yeah, you'll have a lot of fun revving to 10K RPM w/ that baby.

Well I figure I drive it like a motocycle. My Honda CBR600 F4 redlines at around 13k so 9k shouldn't be much different. I bought my F4 back in '99 without ever getting on a motocycle and knowing how to ride also. 😀 Since I have some experience with the bike, it shouldn't be too hard to learn and adjust. It's going to be a fun summer!

Nice! nice color too... how much did u pay? and mileage?

It's 2001 with 56k miles. Paid 17.5k cash. Got the 18" GT3s along with the stock 16" wheels. Had my Lexus mechanic friend look over and inspect the car for me. He drove it 350 miles to my house for me.

This will be my weekend ride so I doubt I'll put even 2k miles a year.

I'm not worried about burning out the clutch or any service issues. My friend is going to replace the clutch anyway after I learn. I just have to pay for the parts and he and his buddies at the Honda dealership is going to perform any service on the vehicle for free. 🙂

That should be totally unnecessary, if you get proper lessons on it.

Go look through S2000 ads and you will see a LARGE number of them advertise new clutches with relatively few miles on the cars.
