I like the new layout! but the one thing i miss is the print option that formated all the pages of an article on a single page. Any plans to bring this back?

One aspect of the old style was the concise summary of each article made it easy to scan the whole list and select those that interested me. Now I have the equivalent of scanning multiple pages to find the items of interest. It is slower, and feels clumsy compared to the old system.

Could we have a 'Summary Only' option or alternate layout?

Thanks

I REALLY miss the print option, I printed about 75% of the articles you posted to read when commuting. I often passed them around to coworkers who did the same. I really hope you bring it back!

The print option is coming back! It didn't make the initial launch but it was never taken out of the plans :)

I'm thinking about the summary only option since we have had some requests for it. Give us some time to do some tweaking and then we'll definitely get to things like that :)

Take care,
Anand

It's great news to know that we'll have again the "Print" option... BUT I think it'd be even more important to redirect the old URL system to the new one, to allow our links to AnandTech "old" articles to work seamlessly.

E.g., if you use a link to this Nehalem classic article:

http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.aspx?i=3382
or
http://www.anandtech.com/printarticle.aspx?i=3382

... you get screwed up: just a generic error message, no article at all. And the same with links INSIDE the article ("check our previous article ____").

PLEASE, do us (and perhaps YOU, AnandTech) a favor and fix / redirect the old URL system, so "SHOWDOC.ASPX", "PRINTARTICLE.ASPX" and the old article numbers ("3382", etc.) work... with WHATEVER design you want. You could re-use the PRINTARTICLE.ASPX for the "Print" option, perhaps...

Thanks a lot for your time and your efforts, from a guy that has seen you grow up through these years (both the site and yourself, Anand).

That is great to hear, thanks for taking the time to respond, Anand. I will patiently wait for the print function to reappear and build up a backlog of articles to enjoy later.

It looks like the "print article" option is working again.

I wish more websites had this feature.

Well, the "print whole article" option is back. But when I try and actually print the article I am only getting the first page of it to appear on my "print preview".

Is this a problem with Anandtech or me? (Knowing my lack of IT knowledge....it is probably me)

It's you, I just tried a few articles and it works perfectly. Sorry, I have no suggestions on how to fix it for you.

Yeah, just you. No problems here either on Firefox 3.6.2 or IE8

No, it is not just you. I can only print the first page of any article. It doesn't matter if I try to print to the printer, to the Msft Document Writer or PDF Writer...or if I set the Print Range to All, Pages 1 - X, or highlight everything and choose Selection.

There is definitely something wrong with the Print Whole Article page.

I'm on Firefox 3.6.3 BTW.

So far my solution has been to click the "Print This Article" button and copy everything into a Word document and print it from there. It works great that way so this isn't not a big problem or anything.

I've just checked that you've redirected the old URLs system (SHOWDOC.ASPX & PRINTARTICLE.ASPX), and IT JUST WORKS: seamlessly, flawlessly, it redirects the old articles to the new system & the new article numbers.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH, Anand & AnandTech guys / girls / plants / animals / minerals / others, for hearing my (reasonable, IMHO) plea. Once again, you're the best. Period.

Yes, good AsukaFan, but the Print This Article button is still broke - still only will let you print the first page.

But like I said above, just paste everything into a Word doc and print from there.
