New way to transfer digital photos

Hear about this on radio talk show this am.

You set up a folder on you desktop using a special program.
Then a friend or relativer does same thing on their computer.
You drag photo file into folder and copies appear in folder of friend or relative.

Has anyone tried this?

erm. direct connection between two computers with backup software isn't too new.
