New way to make Protein Shake, along with little diet, trying this for 1 week (before pics in here) ...

No Lifer
Well I am trying to get my stomach as cut up as possible. It's pretty lean so far but I still have little fats that I wanna get rid of to get it cut like it was 2 summers ago. and to do that, I am trying this diet that my friend at work told me about, and this guy is ripped!!

It is not like a typical diet of just eating less, but it has to do with the somewhat low carb diet. this diet is not atkins, but its just keepin your carbs below 40g of carbs for 5-6 days, then on day 7 take alot of carbs in. And while eatin less carbs, stack up on your fats.

So now when taking in my protein shakes (3 a day) with skim milk, because it has some carbs, as well as alot of sugars that are not necessary, I am taking my protein shakes with water and 2 Table spoons of heavy whipping cream, which has 45cal from fat with each tablespoon, but has no carbs. I am going to be taking 3 of these a day. For my meals i'm going to eat turkey sausage and chicken, which have virtually no carbs in them as well. The turkey sausages have alot of fat in them though. but according to this guy who is giving me advice it doesnt matter for me because I am just trying to lose little belly fat, not all around weight. and on top i want to keep my physique.

I'm gonna do cardio about 3-4 times this week, not for a long time but rather short and high intensity. I'm gonna take some before and after pics, of just one week, and see if i see any difference. my friend at work told me that i should DEFINITELY see a difference within a week, IF i can keep this diet up. my friend is about 5'8, 175 lbs, but is VERY VERY lean and can bench press 245lbs about 12 times (to get an idea maybe how strong he is) and has a very low body fat percentage. So flame away or whatever, here are some before pics my gf just took:

Before Pic 2

Before Pic 3 (back View)

I'll post some pics at this time next week to see if it did anything, pending that I can keep this diet going on! I also haven't weighed myself tonight yet but will tomorrow morning. I don't really want to lose lbs or anything, just want to even out with some muscle I put on from eating all this protein and fat. but we'll see ... so flame on!!

Whether it works or not, that can't be healthy. Why not just add some extra cardio to your life while keeping your weight training and diet the same as before? I'm confused.

Your abs and arms look good but you really need to work on your chest & shoulders. Really. Also, as much as I hate to say it, are you willing to go on your friend's diet for all your life? If no, stop eating saturated fat.

yea trust me bro i am only doing it for a week for a reason, cause i know its not that great for you. also, thats why on 1 or 2 days in the cycle, you load up on carbs cause your body physically needs them. i do cardio, but also its hard for me to do it for TOO long cause of my asthma. I have gotten my stamina up pretty good though and am just mainly doing high intensity for the time being, for about 15 mins max.

Yea I know I want my chest bigger 🙁 I can bench 225 about 5 times now, although it might not look that way as of now ...

My shoulders on the other hand are my strongest part of my body, if it doent look like it in those pics there. but for the chest, i agree i want it bigger 🙂 I am tryin though.

as far as that diet the rest of my life ... nah 🙂 I am only experimenting at this time now, for this week. i love sweets and its hard for me to diet, so we'll see if i can even make it a week 🙂

i also just edited my post w/a pic from the back view ... you can see my shoulders are pretty built up in those pics

the protein protein protein, then carb loading is what body builders do before competitions. you deprive your muscles of carbs, and then overload them. it somehow shocks them, and they look inflated for a bit. first of all, know that the effects are not permanent. it's something you might want to do before a week at the beach. the effects don't last much longer. secondly, i don't see much fat so you might be better off doing some resistance training for your abs because it doesn't look like they're large enough to benefit from a protein depleted/carb shock diet, as it's mainly reserved for individuals w/ alot of muscle mass to begin w/. i.e. body builders.

I have added resitance to my abs. I have been doing leg lifts (lying down on a declined bench and lifting my legs up) with a 10lb dumbell between my feet. I also have been doing the roman chair exercises, bending my knees to bring my legs up, with a dumbell between my legs. and for my upper abs, i have been doing crunches on that thing that has no back to it (so you cant touch your back when going back down from a crunch) with a 25lb plate on my chest. and for side abs, i also use the twist machine with about 80-90 lbs resistance, or i do side bend overs (on that lower back bend over thingie if you know what i mean) with a dumbell in my hand. what other types of resistance can I do for my abs? they are very strong according to the workouts I do for them, atleast it seems heh.

What's your wrist diameter? How tall are you? Are you benching on a machine or freeweight?

Also...you've got time for one more bulk cycle, and then you could cut up for july/august.

not trying to sound like a f@g, but you look good and should be happy with where you are. don't hurt yourself. it is not worth it. you will feel it eventually, trust me.

an older friend of mine was really into body building, could squat 800+#s freeweight, did it for years, had body fat of 5-8%, ultra lean and ripped. had to have lower back surgery and the drs put some rods in his back, then shoulder surgery on right shoulder because of impingement, then the bicep ripped. now he has to have shoulder surgery on the other shoulder.

this guy was still at the gym benching 250 freeweight less than 1 year after his back surgery. but he pays everyday, for the amount of pain he is in.

i guess i am saying is don't become obsessed with it. i have talked to him for many years and he has stated many times that if he could do it over he would do lots of cardio and take it easy on the heavy weights.

your friend is putting you on a CKD (cyclic ketogenic diet). you can google that and get plenty of info.

If you're not already glycogen depleted, you'll drop a lot of water quickly and see a little more definition from that. It's going to get tough to exercise at high intensity. Try to schedule your toughest workouts the day after the carb-up, when your glycogen stores are replenished.

you likely will need more than a week for appreciable fat loss. Stick with this for a few weeks and see how it goes. Be careful not to cut calories too hard, you look lean enough that muscle loss from aggressive dieting is a concern. HIIT cardio is a good idea.

Good luck, keep the updates coming

i dont think you need to work out anymore. too much muscle is gross.

and dont listen to anyone on here that criticizes you because youre 90835 times better looking than them.

Sh|t dude, you look pretty ripped to me already. If I were you, I'd maybe just work on my chest and start a simple exercise and diet plan that would work for the long run.

I'm a pretty thin guy, but I've got some fat around my stomach I can't really get rid of. I was 130 pounds one summer and didn't have that kind of definition on my abs, after doing tons of cardio and ab workouts. I'm 145 or so now and my stomach is only slightly less defined. That fat on my stomach just stays there, so I personally would be happy if I were you already. (I'm 5'9" with a small build btw)

If I looked like you I wouldn't bother. Everyone knows that anything you lose in this week will be water weight more than anything else, so it will just be painful and without much benefit.

Your bodyfat is already under 10% by the looks of it. If you want to get cut you only need to tweak what you've already got. Cut your eating back (if you've not tried super-low carbs it can be rather painful for some people) and do cardio 5 times/week and you'll get very thin with that alone.

You look pretty cut man. Keep the good work up 😀

Just tweak the diet OR hit the sprints hard.

Also you could do with better ab exercises imo.

Incline sit ups wit weights is great. 8r x 4s hard and heavy is great. Do remember to work your back and do hyper extenions and supermans. That helpsy our abs also.

DragonFlags is another good body and thus ab exercise.

Squats is very important to abs imo. Get a nice strong body and your abs will show through better.

Bulk off's are great also. Hang from a chin bar. Lift your knees up then KICK UP. Then let yourself go back down then repeat. GREAT EXERCISE. 10reps x 3 sets and your abs will scream at you. You will probably not be able to finish these properly as everyone struggles with this until they get use to it.

I'm a casual bodybuilder, 5-6 200 lbs... you asked what other exercises you could do to bulk up you abs... basically you NEED to incorporate ab cable pulldowns, execution explained here. This is a great exercise b/c you can overload the uppers and lowers (I usually do 130-140lbs) in a relatively safe manner. Another exercise I do is the leg lift like you said, with the dumbbell (25lbs). The reason I can go so heavy is b/c I do it on the bench and use the bench arms to hold for support. I also wear a belt when doing it, b/c it could really mess up you back if not careful (a buddy of mine said he's seen people slip discs doing it). I would recommend going heavier on your leg lifts, and try the cable pulldowns.

Quick note about the diet, like others have suggested I would be worried about muscle loss... but if it's temporary, then not a big deal. I would personally never do it, b/c your eating habits will eventually slap the fat back on, this is just a quick fix. You need to count your calories better, and/or increase cardio (and it doesn't have to be intense since you have asthma, high intensity probably isn't for you). My .02

Sounds interesting Koing... do you have a link to the proper execution of this? I'd like to try it.

Look into The Ultimate Diet 2.0 by Lyle McDonald... Kinda/Sorta the same deal but it goes into the scientific part of it and whatnot. Good read.

Thanks for the information guys 🙂

Koing: i would also like more info on how to properly do these exercises ... I am trying to do some hardcover advanced workouts for my abs. I'm going to the gym probably in about an hour or so, so if you could lemm eknow bout those please do 🙂

Part of bodybuilding and being "cut" is perception. Have you thought about shaving your upper body, including armpits, and applying some tan to your body. It will make you look more cut. I'm not saying that is the total answer, but part of the answer. Look at bodybuilders when they hit the stage, generally the darker the better.

As far as shaving stuff ... I have considered doin that, but id on't know it just don't feel like it would be right lol 😛

I do all the time. The wife likes it and it definitely does help with the perception. You will get used to it after a while and will become second nature.
