Just installed my new w/c setup a little bit ago. The temps don't seem to great though. The setup consist of:
D5 pump
Tygon tubing 1/2 inch
Black ice pro III (made for 3 120mm fans)
TDX waterblock
WATER WETTER added to the distilled water

Computer with Nothing overclocked:

3000+ venice
Arctic silver 3
Asus A8N-E mobo
7800GT (stock cooler)
7200.9 HDD
2 80mm fans

Load temp is constant 42C so far. Thats running CPU burn in (max heat) for about 25 mins. The motherboard temp is 34C

VARIABLES:
The radiator has NO fans installed on it, they won't make it here for a couple of days

So do these temps seems normal? I was hoping for better. This is only worse than the stock air cooler. Good thing its a lot quieter ;)

would 2 fans really make that big of a diff? Right now i'm idleing around 38, which is about 6 degrees higher than my idleing on air. One way or another, its still not really good. Earlier when I had it on it loaded at 40 C. Then I installed everything "permanently". Now its idleing 2 degrees below previous max.... I've messed something up when i reinstalled it. ideas?

No oc'ing.
I've ordered 2 120mm fans, although my radiator allows for 3. I guess i'll worry about the temps once they are installed.

Here is what I need help with for now. When I first intalled the w/c kit (test for leaks) everything was just laying on desk, half way in and out of b/c i hadn't cut tubing holes in my case yet. Obviousely the side of the case was off during this time. During that period i loaded at 42 under cpu burn in.
Now that I have the pump & radiator permanently installed right under computer my idle is 42. So somewhere between temporary installation & load my temps have gone up. I took block on & off several times. Maybe too much Arc Silver? Is it possible that having the pump & radiator moved approximatly 6 inches vertically lower made a difference. At first they layed on desk during leak test, now they are behind desk.

Also, in a "normal" Water setup, what are normal temps like? Just to compare...

you have to cool the rad..that is what the fans are for...I think seem very good as a result

can too much arctic silver do an extra 5C ?

Too much AS5 can, but like someone said, before you complain u better add 3 and i dont mean 2 but ALL 3 fans on it. The whole point of having a radiator that big is to use 3 low volt quiet fans and not 2. BTW most of the black ice series radiators were not ment to be used with low CMF fans. The design on those were ment for high CMF fans, you should of done some research before popping in the setup.

Fans are huge in terms of load changes.
Thanks for this thread anyway, as it's PROOF you can run a passive system with decent temps with a standard radiator.

Also...
Get 3 fans, not two, and undervolt them to 5V--all of the fans will be silent; but you'll get PLENTY of air moving through.

If space allows, look into 38x120mm fans--SanyoDenki SanAce. I have them, and they work VERY well at 5V. :)
