Sweet car....didn't realize butter was, tho.............

Interesting mixed metaphor.......sweetness and butter, altho I tend to more associate sweetness with sugar or honey or chocolate or the like. Butter usually gives me the impression of slickness, smoothness, etc.

I'm anxiously waiting for those new FSI-engines. VW has been lagging a bit when it comes to petrol-engines. Their diesels are the best in the world, but petrol-engines could be improved. And hopefully FSI is that improvement :)!

Nice engine :)

I guess i gotta enjoy my 3.5L 255hp/246lb.ft. Maxima while i still can.

Btw, is it just me or does that new Golf look like an Acura RSX upfront?

Hell no!! The Golf has a more blunt front end. The RSX is like an arrowhead.

Fight off the iron?? America has NO cars that compete with VW's on ANY level.

Passat...nope.
Golf...nope.
Jetta...nope.

VW Doesn't have any cars that compete with America's either:
Camaro - Nope
Mustang - Nope
I won't even go into the trucks catagory ;)

I still have fun beating todays "fast" VWs with my DODGE engine that was made in 89 ;)

That's not the point. Laust made the effort to say that VW's have to fight off "The Iron." So looking at VW's current lineup, NO American cars in each VW's respective class comes close.

No offense to your Dodge, but my dad's '90 Chrysler New Yorker Fifth Avenue is the worst piece of sh!t thing we have ever owned. The thing has has 3 computer blow, transmission was fried, and the thing has all kinds of glitches with the security system. And it only has 65,000 miles on it. My Camry has 105,000 miles on it and has had nary a problem.

Hmmm was a joke, guess they don't teach you about WW2 in college, you also promoted a demo of a game that brings you back to Axis and Allies so thats what brought it up... Good thing they didn't win eh, I think you take the German stuff to personally NFS. :p

Edit: BTW I don't play many games but that one is sure fun to get into, I guess I gave it a shot cause I remembered getting into the 1st one while I was on the job back when it was the hit :)

That's because europeans are sensible enough to drive practical cars, instead of humungous trucks ;)

It does say specifically in the article that one of the Golf's competitors is the Focus... so America competes, just not that well. ;)

If you go to Edmund's VW Golf pages and go to their "compare to other models" it gives you this list:
2002 Chevrolet Cavalier LS 4dr Sedan
2002 Ford Focus ZTS 4dr Sedan
2002 Pontiac Grand Am SE 4dr Sedan
2002 Saturn S-Series SL2 4dr Sedan

LMAO! :D

<< did i read that correctly........ 3.2 Liter 250 BHP???? :Q >>

Not that impressive since the current 2.8L VR6 does 205 hp.

You got that right!!!:p They may "compare" but they DEFINITELY don't "compete." It's like putting Mike Tyson up against Woody Allen :)

<< OOOh, availible in AWD? Is that a first for the Golfs? >>

Not a first. The Golf Country which was almost like an off road version and the Rallye Golf both had AWD.

Edit: back on subject, cool car tho :)

I read a while back that they were considering dropping the new W8 engine into the Golf... now THAT would be a pocket rocket! :Q

That is QUITE impressive b/c the VW engine will surely have the torque to back it up. I mean, Acura/Honda gets 260 from their 3.2 liter V6. The Grand Prix needs 3.8 liters and a supercharger to make 240HP.
